The golf course‘s overview
Ba Na Hills Golf project began in 2012, managed by IMG- the global golfing powerhouse, this stunning property is Luke Donald’s first-ever course design. It is now known as a high-quality golf course located at the best well-known entertaining spot in Da Nang. After years of establishment and growth, Ba Na Hills Golf Club was awarded many prizes, and “Asia’s Best Golf Course” at the World Golf Awards 2018 is one of them, contributing to defining its reputation.
When it comes to landscape, taking such great natural features, the course sits right at the foot of a towering mountain range, on a hilly piece of terrain covered with lush vegetation alternating with lakes and streams. Besides the magnificent natural views, the designers were super delicate in creating floodlights on the course from the first tee to the 18th green offering golfers joyful night rounds or even spectacular views on every spot of the course when the sunset comes. But what makes Bà Nà Hills Golf Club stand out is its one of the most impressive practice facilities in the whole country, giving you the best-golfing experience during your visit.
The golf course itself is an 18-hole par-72 course stretching 7,858 yards in length, making it the longest layout in Vietnam. There is a variety in elevation change as well as natural features such as endless lines of pine/hardwood trees, lakes, and streams throughout the 18-hole-stretch of the course. The course varies in the lengths among the holes comprising a non-stop succession of undulating and also small greens, making it the most challenging golf course. It is ready to test even the most experienced golfers but still ensures enjoyment for golfers at other skill levels. Moreover, the greens come in different sizes but only slightly undulated allowing golfers with various pin positions and approach shots. Last but not least, the bunkers are also a pride of Ba Na Hills Golf Club for being bold and demanding.
Holes description
The design team did a good job of building the front nine holes into the parkland surrounded by pine forests. Whereas, the back nine holes are routed through significant elevation changes with many blind shots, doglegs and crock creeks making it a roller coaster ride for golfers.
Par 5 5th hole is an example of one of the most challenging holes since it involves much more undulating. It is slightly up-hill, 708 yards with 250-yard carry over water from the pro-tee so it is quite an interesting and challenging hole. Next, hole 7 is a medium length par 4 over a ridge bunkered on either side of the fairway, but easy to get a birdie. Then par-3 12th hole is a beautiful spot where the backdrop is miles and miles of forest with the elevated tee and the green set a little bit lower. You then go to the signature hole 16th, a dramatic par 3 which is over 200 yards from the back to an island green which is a little bit challenging. This par 3 16th hole is completely surrounded by water, since the strong wind flows may obstruct your swings, you need more calculations of right lengths, line and flights to conquer this hole. Also, the 17th hole with a picturesque backdrop of Ba Na mountain is a downhill tee shot, dogleg right to left with an iron approach across the water to a green. This may give you a real birdie chance at the end of the round. Thus, all the golfers will love it for many reasons, the highest point of the course, dramatic view direct to the mountain, etc. offering any golfer the most enjoyable golfing.
