Going through the course
Lie in the middle of Da Nang city and Hoi An (UNESCO World Heritage site) is the majestic and stunning Montgomerie Links golf club. The course has gained a reputation and received many awards for its location and design. Some of the prizes can be listed as follows: Vietnam Golf Magazine’s “Best Golf Course in Vietnam” in 2010, 2011, “Vietnam’s Best Championship Course 2013”... but the most memorable of all is to become “one of Asia’s ten most elite courses” in 2012.
This 7090-yard championship golf course is designed by Colin Montgomerie “Monty”, a multiple-time tournament winner. He already stated his mind in a press conference that “It’s a beautiful beach, a beautiful golf course site. To find a course site like this, these days, is very rare.”
The Monty Links, as referred by the locals, has the vibe of Ireland or Scotland but with a more sunny and warm atmosphere of a coastal course. With the East Sea on the front, the soil, the wind, the sandy dunes, the local vegetation and the sight of the astonishing Marble Mountains, Montgomerie Links is truly a perfect combination between nature and the hand of humans.
Monty has put many traditional and classic elements into Montgomerie Links. The course has massive greens, treeless fairways, well-placed bunkers and tight chipping areas. For each and every hole, you can see the presence of pot-style bunkers, especially from the 9th onward, the density of bunkers becomes much higher. Not to mention, because of Quang Nam's geography, lakes and streams are frequent to be seen. Compared to other seaside courses across Vietnam, the number of water hazards in Monty Links surely can be at the top five.
No one can deny the fact that Montgomerie Links is a well-maintained golf course that promises to keep the top quality for all level golfers to achieve the best golf experience.
Holes description
Among the highlight holes of the course, the par-5 12th can definitely win first place. To start off the play, you will have to take an uphill drive to a fairway full of bunkers. After 17 deep bunkers come to the elevated green, golfers have to make 3 strategically placed shots to overcome this challenge. With the contemporary clubhouse as the background and well-positioned bunkers, this 12th hole is considered the best par-5 in Vietnam.
The second place belongs to the shortest par-4 4th. The hole can be quite tricky with the tee on a higher ground and the water hazard lies straight on the right. You will have to take a strong swing, alongside with high precision, in order to let the ball fly across the fairway full of bunkers and reach the green. The green is now guarded with a little pond on the right. The 4th can either be a monster or a rewarding hole, all depends on players’ hands. With accurate shots, a birdie is not that hard to get.
However, you can not neglect other stunning holes of the course. The 7th and 13th, both par-4 with the deepest bunkers on the entire course. The 15th has a dogleg design run around the left of the water. The 18th and the longest par-5 demand a full blast to reach the green but also give you a good chance to get a birdie.
Facilities
Montgomerie Links members can enjoy various services, from the first-class design golf course to the marvelous beach facilities, you can also choose to dine at the main restaurant and relax at The Estates villa. The restaurant offers fusion cuisine that can be served inside an air-conditioned room, in the middle of a scorching day, or outside, over the terrace on a soothing evening. In addition, My Khe Beach, one of the top ten world most beautiful beaches, is within a reach from the course and the villas. All guests have full access to the clubhouse, international standard Pro shop, locker rooms, sauna area, and 30 bay driving range facility. How to get to Montgomerie Link Vietnam
Located 20-minute travel by car from Danang international airport and about 15 minutes from the city center. You can also choose to commute by car from Hoi An and it just takes approximately 10 minutes.
