Tan Son Nhat Golf Course details
Tan Son Nhat Golf is a 36 hole par 72 public golf course located 4km from downtown Ho Chi Minh City. The golf course lies between downtown Saigon and adjacent to Tan Son Nhat Airport, the busiest airport in Vietnam. It is designed by Nelson & Haworth. The architects have transformed a relatively flat land into an exciting golf course with moundings, large bunkers, water hazards, and elevations. Golfers can see the skyline from every hole in the course. Tan Son Nhat Golf has an area of 156 ha and is divided into 4 nines, named Course A, B, C, and D.

Course A Descriptions
Course A has a length of 3729 yards. The golf course surrounds a large lake, apartments, villas, and hotel complex within. The holes are placed around the terrain to create a sense of recurring as the holes are placed for golfers to travel twice around the lake. However, each hole offers a different feeling and difficulty so players will not feel repetitive.
The most challenging hole in Course A is hole 3 par 5. Surrounding the fairways are O.B close to the left and deep bunkers located on both sides. Driving shots are required, however, golfers can play a long iron or hybrid if they are unsure of their ability. A good strategy is to play long hitters to the right as the fairway after the bunkers will slope to the left. The O.B and the bunkers will still be your enemies during the second shot. Shorter hitting is a less risky strategy as golfers can avoid the bunkers. However, reaching the green with 2 shots is possible if the tee shot is well calculated. Players should aim their shot to the right as the bailout is to the left, depending on the pin location.
Another difficult hole is hole 8. The 206 yards long par 3 has a lot of traps with bunkers and water on the left side and more bunkers on the right sides. Inexperienced golfers can choose the right side to proceed, however, there are some obstacles. Breaks and right-to-left slopes on the green will make getting out of lows difficult. Playing this hole, par is a good score.
Course B Description
Course B has a length of 3620 yards. The challenging side of this course lies in the strategically placed bunkers, elevations, and 3 large lakes around the field.
The most exciting hole of Tan Son Nhat golf course B is hole 2 par 5, with a length of 607 yards. A left-to-right power shot will bring the ball to a sloping fairway and lengthen the shot. The position of your tee shot will determine your strategy as the bunkers are placed on both sides of the fairways. 2 shots to the green are possible for long hitters but those hits must be calculated to perfection. Moreover, green is protected to the left but slope to the back so distant control is crucial.
Course C Description
Course C of Tan Son Nhat Golf Course has a length of 3747 yards. Water hazards are the main obstacle to the course as there is a big lake stretching along with the field. One entertaining hole of the course is hole 3 of 449 yards. It is a strong par 4 with a difficult drive and a hard approach to the green. Par on this hole is really hard to get and usually requires 2 or even 3 near-perfect starting shots. In addition, almost all green approaching shots will be deflected to the right where the grass is cut lower. From here, golfers will face high elevations as well as a water body on the right side. On this hole, Bogey opportunity is good enough to achieve.
Course D Description
Course D plays around the clubhouse and has a length of 3619 yards. Around the field are large lakes and bunkers placed close together, ensure a challenging experience for the golfers. Hole 6 par-5 is a great example of a great hole. There is a lot of room for a tee shot, but the shot needs to be precise to both avoid the large lake to the right and to get closer to the green. Aim close to the lake and you will have a chance to land on even terrain. However, the second shot is more important. The green is small with bunkers surrounding it. Golfers can pass the water hazard and all the bunkers in just 2 swings but those swings must be calculated carefully.
Facilities and Services
Tan Son Nhat Golf Club offers a 3-storey, 1 ha clubhouse with over the top services. On the first floor are a 2050m2 parking space and offices. The second floor contains luxurious locker rooms equipped with a shower room, steam bath, and jacuzzi. There is also the 4-star Long Bien Restaurant with a capacity of 500 seats offering some of the best dishes and wine for golfers. Moreover, a pro shop is available on the same floor stocked with equipment and accessories from famous brands. On the third floor is the Long Bien Palace which organizes conferences and wedding ceremonies with a capacity of 2000 people and a heliport. The golf course also features a driving range for golfers to practice.
How to reach Tan Son Nhat Golf
The golf course is located right next to the Tan Son Nhat Airport so it takes about 10 minutes to drive from the airport and a 20 minutes drive from Ho Chi Minh City center.
